Maxwell Chambers is pleased to be a supporting organisation of the webinar “Hybrid Dispute Resolution Mechanisms as the Wave of the Future: Perspectives from Singapore as a Maritime Hub” by the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration as part of Singapore Convention Week 2021.

Synopsis:
In the ever-evolving complexity of cross-border business disputes, further impacted by the pandemic, hybrid dispute resolution mechanisms combining both mediation and arbitration, offer flexibility and efficiency when tailored to users’ specific needs, marrying the benefits of both worlds and overcoming the limitations of standalone arbitration or mediation.

Flexing its rising prominence as a key dispute resolution hub, Singapore has been a strong proponent of hybrid mechanisms, demonstrated by the usage of SCMA-SIMC and SIAC-SIMC Arb-Med-Arb Protocols, to keep pace with the changing needs of a sophisticated international community and to facilitate Singapore’s success as a maritime hub.

As part of Singapore Ministry of Law’s Singapore Convention Week, this webinar organised by Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA), in strategic partnership with Oon & Bazul LLP and Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) showcases why neutral, cost-effective and flexible hybrid frameworks for maritime and international dispute resolution are gaining momentum and enhances process integrity and enforceability whilst offering control mechanisms for efficient and effective dispute resolution.
