SUMMARY:Beyond Use\, Not Beyond Value: E-Waste Recycling Drive 2026
DESCRIPTION:Event Details\nBeyond Use\, Not Beyond Value: Recycle your e-waste responsibly\, recover & reuse valuable resources. \nAs technology becomes an integral part of our daily lives\, frequent upgrades and improper disposal mean that many devices end up in general waste. When e-waste is not handled properly\, harmful substances such as lead\, mercury\, and cadmium can be released into the environment\, posing risks to both ecosystems and human health. \nAccording to the United Nations Institute for Training and Research\, over 60 million tonnes of e-waste are generated each year\, and is projected to exceed 80 million tonnes annually by 2030.  Yet\,  less than one quarter (22.3%) of the year’s e-waste mass was documented as having been properly collected and recycled in 2022\, leaving US$ 62 billion worth of recoverable natural resources unaccounted for and increasing pollution risks to communities worldwide. \nAs part of our #MaxwellGoesGreen initiative\, we would love for you to take part in our E-Waste Recycling Drive\, in partnership with ALBA E-Waste Smart Recycling\, Singapore’s appointed operator for the national e-waste recycling programme. The collection point will be at Maxwell Chambers Suites from 20th April to 20th May\, 2026. \nThrough proper recycling channels\, e-waste can be dismantled and processed to recover valuable materials such as gold\, silver\, copper\, and rare earth elements. These materials are then reused in the production of new electronics and other products\, reducing the need for raw resource extraction and supporting a more sustainable\, circular economy. \nLet us do our part to give our devices a second life and reduce the environmental impact of our everyday habits: \n\nGive your old devices a second life by allowing valuable materials to be recovered and reused\nProtect the environment by keeping harmful e-waste out of landfills and incineration\nReduce overall environmental impact by lowering the need for new resources and energy\n\nSources: United Nations Institute for Training and Research; National Environment Agency (Singapore); ALBA E-Waste Smart Recycling \nWhat can you recycle? \nE-Waste refers to any electrical and electronic equipment that is thrown away. It includes almost anything powered by an electrical source (e.g. from a power socket or a battery). Examples are computers\, mobile phones and refrigerators. \n \nQ&A from the Lecture:\nQ1: What are the potential challenges in the future for issuing arbitral awards? Are there any changes in environment or technology that may mitigate or worsen these challenges? \nQ2: What aspects of arbitration are ready for AI? \nQ3: What do you think are the key issues that need to be considered when using technology? \nQ4: About diversity\, I notice that the ICC now has an almost 50/50 male/female mix. Is this too fast and too artificial? \nQ5: For operating with ICC arbitration\, since the publishing of the ICC arbitration rules 2021 in the year of 2021\, which part of the arbitration rules 2021 would ICC suggest multi-national companies\, future expert witnesses\, future party representatives and future arbitrators to pay attention to as per ICC’s observation so far? \nQ6: What would ICC like expert witnesses\, party representatives\, and arbitrators to do (and prepare themselves) in order to operate ICC arbitration in line with ICC’s vision?  \nWatch the full recorded session below:\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\nWILL ACCEPT\nDO NOT PUT\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nICT equipment can be recycled together with their embedded batteries as well as any cables\, adaptors\, remote controls\, keyboards used with the product.\nRemove all packaging\, including cardboard boxes & plastic bags. Secure all damaged e-waste properly before disposing them. \n\n\n \nInformation and Communication Equipment (ICT)\nLarge Household Appliance \nElectric Mobility Device\nHousehold Battery\nLithium Ion Portable Battery\nConsumer Electric Vehicle Battery\nConsumer Lamp (Bulb)\nConsumer Lamp (Fluorescent Tube)\n \n \n \nHousehold items: Toaster\, Oven\, Vacuum Cleaner\, Electric Fan\, Hair Dryer \nSpeaker\nElectric Toy\nGame Console\nCamera\nCD/DVD\nBreakable items \n \n\n\n\nE-Waste Recycling Drive Details \n\n\n 20 April 2026 – 20 May 2026\n \n\n\n\n 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM (Anytime during office hours)\n \n\n\n\n \n Maxwell Chambers Suites (28 Maxwell Road\, S069120)\n \n \n\n \n (Near the Maxwell Road exit\, the area behind the lobby lift)\n \n \n\nOur Partner\n\nAbout ALBA E-Waste Smart Recycling Pte Ltd\nALBA E-Waste is the appointed operator for the Producer Responsibility Scheme that started in 2021.
