In this seminar, Professor Onyema will explore the development of the “office” of the international arbitrator into an identifiable profession and, drawing from some of the arbitrator (and award) challenges, share some thoughts on whether it is now time for the international arbitration community to recognise and accept this independent role of the professional arbitrator …
Speakers will examine the 2024 decisions relating to the setting aside and enforcement of awards, as well as identify trends that may be discerned from these cases.
Participants will discuss and explore the building blocks to becoming an arbitrator, considerations that influence institutions when appointing first-time arbitrators, and more.
