Beyond the Black Box: Gen-AI for Arbitrators | 5 March 2025

Step into the future of arbitration with this dynamic workshop, designed specifically for arbitrators, using Gen AI to streamline and enhance your arbitrator work.

Organised as part of the Beyond the Black Box roundtable series, this live session, in collaboration with Lawdify – an AI tool that runs arbitration workflows – will introduce Gen AI and provide a hands-on practical and interactive session.

In this 1.5 hours session, you will:

    • Gain a 360° view of the latest Gen-AI tools tailored for arbitration focusing on the arbitrator;
    • Participate in hands-on group exercises using Lawdify with real-world use cases;
    • Engage in dynamic discussions with peers under the Chatham House Rule, sharing experiences in a candid, closed-door environment

Who should attend?

This workshop is ideal for arbitrators (with at least 2 years of experience sitting as arbitrators), looking to explore cutting-edge AI solutions to assist them with their work.

To ensure a meaningful and interactive session, attendance will be capped. Register your interest early – confirmed participants will receive a confirmation email no later than 25 February.

The number of participants will be limited to ensure the invitees have an opportunity participate in the discussion. Successful registrants will be notified by email as soon as possible.

Lawdify leverages large language models and graph databases to help arbitrators run tasks like case file and document review, chronology creation, procedural history generation, fact-checking or cross-checking evidence, reviewing expert evidence, assess procedural compliance and many others.

Facilitators

Eliza Jiang, CEO & Co-founder

Eliza is a seasoned disputes resolution expert with over a decade of experience in China-related and complex arbitrations under major institutional rules, including HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, and LCIA. Formerly with the ICC International Court of Arbitration, she managed hundreds of arbitration cases. A New York and Ontario-qualified lawyer, Eliza holds an LL.M from Columbia Law School, a J.D. from the University of Ottawa, and a B.B.A. from the University of Toronto.

Max Godoy, CTO & Co-founder

Max is an AI Engineer with extensive experience in machine learning, large language models, and artificial intelligence. He has spearheaded AI innovations in computer vision, robotics, and cybersecurity, working with prominent clients like the Singapore Police Force. As a full-stack software engineer, Max also excels in developing AI agentic workflows, combining technical expertise with practical applications to deliver cutting-edge solutions.

Cassandra Anthonisz

Deputy Manager of Legal & Business Service

Cassandra Gayle Anthonisz is the Deputy Manager of Legal and Business Services at Maxwell Chambers. Her multifaceted experience spans across legal, business development, and communications sectors, offering a distinctive combination of legal acumen, strategic insight, and cross-sector versatility.

Her professional background encompasses legal affairs, compliance, business development, and legal technology. She has held in-house positions across sectors, where she gained extensive experience navigating complex legal and regulatory environments. Her experience spans the implementation of strategic legal frameworks in sectors such as maritime, commodities, and fintech, with a focus on client-facing legal operations; contractual negotiations; contentious and non-contentious work.

Prior to joining Maxwell Chambers, Cassandra led legal technology start-ups through the unprecedented challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. In these capacities, she integrated legal innovation with corporate strategy, while spearheading business development initiatives and cross-border legal solutions.

Cassandra has a passion for advancing access to justice and to promoting forward-thinking and progressive business-aligned legal practices. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Birmingham City University in the United Kingdom, and is currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM).

Ban Jiun Ean

CHIEF EXECUTIVE

Ban Jiun Ean read law at the National University of Singapore before joining the Ministry of Law. He spent nine years doing legal policy work, with a focus on the development of Singapore’s alternative dispute resolution (ADR) industry. 

Jiun Ean spearheaded the development of the world’s first integrated dispute resolution centre, Maxwell Chambers, which brought together arbitral institutions, service providers and legal practitioners under the same roof in a facility equipped with bespoke dispute resolution rooms and state-of-the-art supporting technology. In 2010, he was appointed Chief Executive of Maxwell Chambers, helming the company for five years and establishing it as the foremost dispute resolution centre of its kind in the world. In 2016, he left Maxwell to pursue several other projects, including the development of an arts centre and to write several novels. In 2019, Jiun Ean was appointed as the Executive Director of Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC), working to strengthen the mediation industry in Singapore and globally. 

Jiun Ean returns to Maxwell Chambers as Chief Executive, to augment the team as it continues to build on Maxwell’s position as the premier ADR facility in the world.
