CHECKLIST TO ENSURE A SMOOTH HYBRID OR VIRTUAL HEARING
- Find a conducive and quiet location with good lighting to participate in the hybrid or virtual hearing.
- Ensure that your device has a stable internet connection and the necessary software installed.
- If possible, use earphones with a microphone for better clarity.
- Always mute your microphone when not speaking. This enables the tribunal and parties to interact with each other undisturbed and reduces feedback that would disrupt the hearing.
- Speak one at a time and refrain from speaking over other participants.
- Identify yourself by stating your name and party when speaking to assist with identification and preparation of an accurate transcript.
- If audio feedback and interference occurs, turn the volume of your device down.
- Minimise competing sounds in the background such as typing. These noises may distract and interfere with the running of the hearing and impact the quality of the transcript.
- Test all devices such as video or call functions ahead of the hybrid or virtual hearing.
- Consult the in-hearing Maxwell Chambers Moderator for prompt assistance with any technical difficulties
