The Riyadh International Disputes Week brings together key players in the dispute resolution market to explore ADR realities and opportunities in the Middle East’s largest economy, share knowledge and expertise, and forge relationships and collaborations.

The event is co-organised with ICC Philippines and serves as key engagement between leading dispute resolution practitioners from the Philippines and abroad to discuss topical issues in international arbitration within the Philippines context.

We’re excited to launch the first Maxwell Unplugged podcast of the year 2025! Join Shumin Lin, Director at Drew & Napier and Simran Toor, Law Consultant at Singapore Academy of Law as they engage in a meaningful dialogue, where they discuss the challenges faced by women in arbitration, the sustainability of the practice, and uncover the backstory of the impactful initiatives Simran has championed to overcome these challenges, along with her upcoming plans in ADR youth support.

We will explore the transformative impact that emerging technologies are having and will have on international arbitration. Our panel will address the role of arbitral institutions in integrating new technologies in dispute resolution, as well as the changing regulatory landscape for AI.

In this seminar, Professor Onyema will explore the development of the “office” of the international arbitrator into an identifiable profession and, drawing from some of the arbitrator (and award) challenges, share some thoughts on whether it is now time for the international arbitration community to recognise and accept this independent role of the professional arbitrator in the context of arbitrator liability for professional misconduct, and the implications of such recognition for the community.
