Asian Arbitration Lecture 2024: Regulating AI in International Arbitration
Topic: Discussions on the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in international arbitration. This topic is important and timely because the international arbitration community so far has paid little attention to this Act, even though it has the potential to apply to international arbitrations proceeding – even if the seat of the arbitration is located, and parties or arbitrators established, outside the EU. The lecture will also discuss whether express AI regulation is desirable in international arbitration in the first place, and if so, what form it should take, touching important considerations regarding procedural fairness, transparency, and data protection, amongst others.
